Janice Strohmeier is the author of From J to K, a memoir about the friendship that saved her life. A naturalized American living in East Texas, she teaches history at Lone Star College and Collin College and runs the OZ Books writing community.

Janice Strohmeier is an author, history professor, and educator based in East Texas. Her debut memoir, From J to K: Baileys, Cigarettes, and a Sorority of Two (late 2024), tells the story of an unexpected and transformative friendship with searing honesty and sharp humor. Born in Calgary, Canada, Janice spent nearly a decade in Mexico teaching English before returning to earn a BA in International Relations from the University of Calgary in 1991 and an MA in History from Sam Houston State University in 2006. She became a naturalized American citizen in 2007. Janice teaches at Lone Star College and Collin College and founded OZ Books as a quiet online community for writers — separate from social media, anchored by monthly prompts and honest conversation.
